Aerones’ Next Phase of Growth

Blume Equity Fund (”Blume”) is delighted to announce its continued partnership with Aerones and participation in Aerones’ $62 million Series C funding round. Aerones, a pioneering robotic wind turbine inspection and maintenance company is revolutionizing the wind energy sector through advanced robotics and AI-powered solutions. The round was led by Activate Capital and S2G Ventures, with participation from Blume and other investors. We are proud to have been a partner for Aerones since its Growth Round in 2023.

Established in 2015, Aerones has positioned itself as the global leader in automated wind turbine maintenance, addressing critical industry challenges including skilled technician shortages and the complexity of maintaining ever-larger wind turbines. The company serves wind farm operators worldwide, working with industry leaders such as GE Vernova, NextEra, Vestas, Enel, and Siemens Gamesa, delivering the full spectrum of robotic inspection, maintenance, and data-driven diagnostics across more than 30 countries.

Aerones’ innovative technology combines advanced robotics with AI-powered software to reduce reliance on manual labour while delivering faster, more reliable operations. Since 2020, the company has enabled nearly 400,000 MWh of additional clean electricity generation and helped avoid 165,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, servicing over 10,000 turbines annually. The company has demonstrated exceptional growth, nearly tripling its revenue over 2024 in a record-breaking year and expanding operations with a new hub in Dallas, Texas.

Blume invested in Aerones following a comprehensive review of the renewable energy infrastructure market, where we identified the urgent need for scalable automation solutions to support the wind industry’s projected doubling by 2030. The investment aligns with Blume’s thesis of backing European companies that deliver both operational efficiency and climate impact.

Eleanor Blagbrough, co-founding partner of Blume Equity, said: ”We are thrilled to support Dainis and the Aerones team as they transform wind energy maintenance through robotics and AI. The wind industry faces an unprecedented scaling challenge, and Aerones provides the intelligent automation solution needed to unlock the full potential of renewable energy infrastructure. Their technology not only improves safety and efficiency but directly accelerates the global transition to clean energy.”

Dainis Kruze, Co-founder and CEO of Aerones, said: ”Our mission is to automate wind turbine inspection and maintenance globally. The world cannot meet its renewable energy goals without innovation—and there simply aren’t enough qualified technicians to keep up with the growth of this industry. With this new investment, we’re expanding faster than ever to meet the urgent demand for intelligent, robot-enabled and AI-powered solutions.”

With this new funding, Aerones will significantly expand its operational capacity worldwide and accelerate research and development in AI-driven automation, robotics, and customer-facing software solutions. The company plans to scale up its robot manufacturing capabilities and invest in advanced predictive maintenance tools, leveraging data from thousands of robotic inspections to set new standards for reliability and performance in the wind energy sector.
